Stewardess

The Pastor in Charge has the authority to recommend three or more female members to become Stewardess. The Quarterly Conference has the authority to appoint those persons recommended by the Pastor.

The duties assigned to the Stewardess by the A. M. E. Zion Book of Discipline is to (a) assist the Preacher’s Steward; (b) make provisions for the support and comfort of the Pastor and his family. (Traditionally, Stewardess have assumed the responsibility for certain parsonage furnishings.)
